CardDAV Server

The CardDAV Server is a contact management application that allows you to easily synchronize and access your address book. Address books on CardDAV servers can be edited and viewed using CardDAV clients such as cellphones and computers.

Any changes made to the contact will be synchronized to all CardDAV client devices connected to CardDAV Server. To launch the CardDAV Server: Open the Main Menu> CardDAV Server. To manage your Android device for use with CardDAV Server: Enter the CardDAV Server URL into your CardDAV client application using the following format:

IP: your port / addressbooks / user / user ID / addressbook where IP is the IP address of your Synology NAS; port is the port number set in CardDAV Server; and your user ID is your DSM account. To set up your iOS device for use with CardDAV Server: Enter your Synology NAS IP address as the CardDAV Server URL in your CardDAV client application.

Backup and Restore with CardDAV

You can back up CardDAV Server and return it to the previous version via Hyper Backup. To back up the CardDAV Server: Go to Hyper Backup> Create> Data backup task to create a backup task. Follow the Backup Wizard instructions, and select CardDAV Server when you are asked to select the application to be backed up.

After the backup task is complete, the configuration file and all user address books will be backed up. To restore the CardDAV Server: Open Hyper Backup> Restore> Data to restore the desired backup task. After the recovery task is complete, the current configuration file and all user address books on CardDAV Server will be overwritten. Backup and recovery functions support DSM 5.1 (or newer).

CardDAV General Settings

You can set basic options for CardDAV Server. The following options are available: Activate HTTPS: You can access the CardDAV Server via a secure HTTPS (SSL) connection. HTTP redirect to HTTPS: HTTP connection to CardDAV Server will be automatically transferred to HTTPS. HTTP Port: The port number of the HTTP connection to CardDAV Server. HTTPS Port: Secure HTTPS (SSL) connection port number to CardDAV Server.

CardDAV Server Address Book

Apart from using other CardDAV clients such as cellphones or computers to change your contact data, CardDAV Server also offers you a centralized interface, which allows you to easily manage and edit contacts for users. To manage the address book: On CardDAV Server> Address Book, select the user and click Edit.

All address books owned by the user will be displayed. Click Add, and enter information to create a new contact for the user. To see details or change contacts, just select the contact from the list and click Edit. To delete a contact, select the contact from the list and click Delete. Contact management application that allows you to easily synchronize and access the address book that is with CardDAV Server.
